W.H. CAMPBELL'S COMPANY WAS WITH GREGG FOR A SHORT TIME. THIS UNIT WAS FROM GREENVILLE, S.C., WITH CAPT. T.A. HOLTZCLAW, W.E. EARLE, J.F. FURMAN. THE UNIT LEFT FOLLOWING A BRIEF STAY WITH THE REGIMENT. THIS UNIT UNDER THE COMMAND OF WILLIAM E. EARLE BECAME CO. A OR H OF THE PALMETTO LIGHT ARTILLERY AND SERVED ON THE COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA. (SEE PALMETTO LIGHT ARTILLERY)

Co K, Gregg's First was commanded by Capt. Matt B. Stanley. At the reorganization Co K becomes Company E, commanded by Capt. W.T. Shooter. Capt. Stanley goes to the McQueen Light Artillery. Stanley is a vet of the Mexican War. McQueen's Battery goes to Virginia under the command of Thomas E. Gregg and serves as Gregg's Battery, Pegram's Battalion. McQueen's is also known as Company B, S.C. siege train. Vol. 3, pages 480-484.
